Singer/songwriter Jesse Ruben will perform on Saturday night, February 2, 2013 at 8 pm at Eutaw Place, Baltimore’s newest live music venue for national talent. Austin Ellis opens. Tickets are $15 in advance at www.eutawplace.org [4] and $20 at the door. Tickets are $15 for students with a valid ID. For Jesse Ruben, music runs in the family. A third generation musician, Ruben began writing songs at the age of 16, shortly after his father bought him his first guitar. He freely confides that he’s done a bit of “obsessing” over his second album, The Ones That Matter. Not that such anxiety is evident on the highly accomplished disc, the follow-up to Ruben’s self-released 2008 debut, Aiming for Honesty. He often receives emotional messages from fans declaring that his songs have crystallized their feelings, commemorated milestones in their lives and even helped repair broken bonds. The artist cites singer-songwriters like Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor as his greatest influences, but also admits a fondness for the standards penned by Cole Porter and the Gershwins. Raised on equal doses of R&B and Rock, the Latin-American Austin Ellis earned a degree in Songwriting and Music Business from the well-respected Recording Industry Program at Middle Tennessee State University. Hailing from North Beach, Maryland, Ellis has performed up and down the East Coast including New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and ventured west to perform in Nashville, Los Angeles and even as far as Melbourne, Australia. Patrons can enjoy beer and wine supplied by Vineyards Elite, coffee by High Grounds Coffee, and home baked cookies and other snacks. This concert is sponsored by B Bistro of Bolton Hill and the Dogwood Restaurant of Hampden where eating well is also doing good. Located in the lower level of the historic Beth Am Synagogue in Baltimore’s Reservoir Hill neighborhood, Eutaw Place brings to Baltimore musicians at an affordable ticket price, in a comfortable atmosphere. Eutaw Place is located at 2501 Eutaw Place. There is free parking in the lot behind the Esplanade Apartments off of Eutaw Place.
