The Cold Spring Jazz Trio will be performing in the Crossroads Lounge at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys, Thursday, Dec. 17 from 6-9 p.m. For over a decade, the extended group, the Cold Spring Jazz Quartet has appeared regularly in nightclubs, restaurants and concert venues winning a broad and loyal following. The Cold Spring Jazz Trio is a drumless performance for smaller venues like the Crossroads Lounge which creates an intimate, lower volume performance for the audience.

The trio is lead by saxophonist and vocalist Mark Osteen who began playing piano at age seven, and took up the saxophone in the fifth grade. He played growing up in Montana and studied jazz at the University of Montana Jazz Workshops. Mark has performed various groups throughout the Pacific Northwest as well as in Atlanta and upon moving to Baltimore, co-founded the Cold Spring Jazz Quartet in 1994. Mark is also president of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance, the non-profit organization who organizes musicians for each of the Thursday night live performances in the Crossroads Lounge.

On Dec. 17, Mark will be accompanied by Anthony Villa on piano and Gary Kerner bass. Anthony is also a member of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance and Gary is well known in the Baltimore jazz scene having played in the Baltimore City summer concert series, as part of Baltimore’s Big Band, and at various functions with the Shades of Blue Orchestra as well as the Sentimental Journey Orchestra.
