Singer/songwriter Brendan James performs live at Eutaw Place Saturday night, November 10, 2012 at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 and are available in advance at www.eutawplace.org and at the door. Doors open at 7 pm.

James’s performance is the second of the 2012-13 season of Eutaw Place, an intimate live music venue showcasing national singer-songwriters, indie musicians and high caliber local talent. Located in the lower level of the historic Beth Am Synagogue in Baltimore’s Reservoir Hill neighborhood, Eutaw Place brings to Baltimore musicians at an affordable ticket price, in a comfortable atmosphere. Patrons will be able to enjoy beer, wine, locally roasted High Grounds coffee, teas, cold drinks, and home baked desserts that will be for sale.

James, from Derry, New Hampshire, spent his early career playing at New York City open mics before releasing his first two albums with Decca Records: The Day is Brave in 2008, and his self-titled sophomore album, Brendan James, in 2010. He has toured nationally to support the albums, including tours with artists such as Jason Reeves, John Mayer, Matt White, and Amber Rubarth.

Brendan James’ third album, Hope In Transition, marks a shift from blind ambition to a new optimism, released in July 2012 after a transformative summer and some serious soul-searching. The singer-songwriter had a creative rebirth, with this most hopeful and invigorating collection of pop-rock in his critically acclaimed, seven-year career.

“I named it Hope In Transition simply because of the huge transition I went through last year,” James explains. "When I made my first two albums, the mindset was, “Keep your head forward and don’t stop running, keep going, going...” but I don't care who you are, you can’t keep that up without a break. Because of the constant motion, I was tired all the time, and was starting to lose the enjoyment I derived from writing. I had to get centered again before I charged ahead.
