Ari Hest w/Shelby Blondell

Singer/Songwriter Ari Hest will headline at Eutaw Place on Saturday night November 1, 2014. Local songstress Shelby Blondell opens. Doors open at 7:30 pm; show starts at 8:00. All ages welcome. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door.

It’s the voice. And the songwriting. And when performing live, Ari Hest sounds better than the recordings, something you rarely see these days. Hailing from Bronx, NY his introspection and intelligence are consistently on display, creating moments of magic within his poetic, spare lyrics and haunting melodies. His just released Shouts and Whispers is his 8th studio album. As a break from making albums, he introduced the world to 52 back in 2008, an innovative project of songs written, recorded and released once a week for a full year. 

Throughout his career, Hest has toured worldwide to support his records, most recently in Europe, and has built the kind of loyal fan base any musician would envy. In the past couple of years, he toured nationally with Judy Collins, Ani Difranco and Suzanne Vega. His music has been featured on numerous television shows including Private Practice, Army Wives, and One Tree Hill. Recently, Ari’s song The Landlord appeared in an episode of NPR’s All Things Considered. Hest also scored a film called Dreamriders which won several independent film awards in 2009. 

Shelby Blondell is a young singer/songwriter from Linthicum MD. She wrote her first song on guitar when she was nine years old, without  having had any lessons, and knew then that music was her calling. She has played with Howie Day, Aaron Carter, Ginny Blackmore, He Is We, The Scene Aesthetic, Plug in Stereo, Carter Hulsey, 2AM CLUB, Tiffiany Alvord, Sonia Leigh, Alex Goot and Luke Conard.

At Eutaw Place, patrons can enjoy beer and wine supplied by Vineyards Elite, coffee by Baltimore’s High Grounds Coffee Roasters, and home baked cookies and other snacks.

Located in the lower level of the historic Beth Am Synagogue in Baltimore’s Reservoir Hill neighborhood, Eutaw Place brings to Baltimore musicians at an affordable ticket price, in a comfortable atmosphere.
