Michael Beresh of americana group the Country Devils set out in September of 2009 on a new project recounting the events of his great uncle’s WWII travels (Walter Beresh) through music.

The evening of March 6th 2010 will be a celebratory stroll down memory lane featuring members of the Baltimore Afro-Beat Society, Country Devils, Arc & Sender, Lawn Chair and Jazz singer Karla Chisholm, as well as many other local Baltimore musicians.

It all started back in May 2001 when Gordon Gartrell and Cru Jones had just seen yet another 80's cover band butcher the decade that they loved, and they decided to do something about it. They assembled a group and vowed to give the world's most hedonistic decade the tribute it deserved. From the Simmons electronic drum kit to the checkered vans and skinny ties - the Legwarmers are the Eighties you remember.

These are exciting times in music; a return to purity, risk-taking and truth-telling. Yet it has been some time since we have seen the likes of BILAL OLIVER. His prodigious debut album 1st Born Second, is a symbolic raising of the bar. He grew up on the cusp of the eighties: the launch of MTV, Prince's Dirty Mind, Reganomics, the digital revolution, the lingering stank of Parliament's Motor Booty Affair and "Rapper's Delight". At barely twenty-one years old, Bilal Oliver is clearly possessed with that oldest instrument: the Voice.
