The Thurnauer Chamber Music Society opens its 2009-10 concert season on Saturday, December 5 at 8pm. The program includes Beethoven’sString Quartet in C Minor, Op. 18, No. 4, Brahms’ Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 60, the Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano by Alex Shapiro, and a medley of traditional Jewish songs arranged by Sidney Goldsmith. In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Thurnauer School of Music, the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society will be honoring individuals whose support has been crucial to the success of the Society’s Concert Series.

Philip Munds, principal horn with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will present a recital including works for horn and piano, solo horn, and horn, oboe, and piano trio. Hailed by The Baltimore Sun for his “terrific contributions” to BSO programs, Munds currently serves on the faculty of The Peabody Conservatory and Towson University. His program will include works by Karl Pilss, Paul Hindemith, David Amram, Kerry Turner, and Heinrich von Herzongenberg.

One Night Only! The critically acclaimed Maryland State Boychoir, Maryland’s “Official Goodwill Ambassadors,” will present a concert on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Perry Hall United Methodist Church, 9515 Belair Road, Perry Hall, MD 21236. This performance will showcase the Tour Choir, and will encompass a wide range of choral selections, including classical and contemporary choral works, both sacred and secular.
